MSOR Connections Overview

MSOR Connections (ISSN 1473-4869 ex Maths, Stats & OR) is the quarterly newsletter of the Maths, Stats & OR Network. It is available internationally via the Network website and is distributed free of charge to those within UK Higher Education involved in the teaching, learning and assessment of Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research. It is published in February, May, August and November of each year and aims to promote, encourage, enhance and disseminate research, good practice and innovation in all aspects of the student learning experience within Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research wherever these may be taught in Higher Education.

It carries articles about teaching and learning developments, the use of computers, reviews of courseware, reports of conferences and workshops, information on new developments and releases of standard packages. Regular columns include Have you seen this? and Something that works for me... and a diary of events.

MSOR Connections: Printed Version

MSOR Connections is the quarterly newsletter published and currently distributed free of charge to all those supporting teaching and learning of Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research within UK Higher Education establishments.  Articles are written by professional academics with a strong interest, skill, knowledge and experience in delivering and developing the teaching and learning experience of students.  Articles cover a broad cross-section of topics including:

Teaching and Learning developments and practice
Use of computers and information technology
Reviews of courseware
Reports of conferences and workshops
New developments and releases of standard packages
Short reviews - "Have you seen this?"
Teaching tips - "Something that works for me..."
Diary of Events
...and we welcome your suggestions for future topics

How to obtain MSOR Connections

If you answer yes to all the questions below, then you can currently join the newsletter distribution list and obtain your copy of MSOR Connections for free!

  1. Are you supporting teaching and learning in mathematics, statistics or operational research?
  2. Do you work for a UK Higher Education establishment?
  3. Are you based in the UK?

If you answered yes to all the questions above and you are currently not receiving a copy then you can join our newsletter distribution list by completing the online registration form.

If you answered no to any of these, then special arrangements can be made for you to purchase copies of  MSOR Connections by emailing R.L.Surowiec@bham.ac.uk
